MAD Formula Team MFT02 Hybrid

In 2023, Formula Student introduced hybrid regulations, allowing electric motors to be added to combustion cars. This MFT02 features such technology to get 10 bhp of extra electric power for up to 20 seconds. Drivers will have to strategically manage this boost, and regenerate power in order to attack.

Introducing the MFT02, the 2022 Formula Student car from MAD Formula Team.

Nicknamed internally "Naomi", this car was the result of a year of work, development and testing. The team competed in Formula Student Austria, Formula Student Germany and Formula Student Spain. With the MFT02, the team made yet another step forward in performance, achieving for the first time ever a top 10 overall result in FSS.

Unlike its predecessor, this car does not feature fans. The system developed for the MFT01 proved very heavy and difficult to use. Despite the additional downforce, this advantage could not be exploited in Formula Student circuits. The MFT02 is almost 10% lighter than the Phoenix, making it the most nimble and developed car by the team. The MFT02 is the perfect base for the team to test new and lighter PGE systems that will be incorporated in future MAD racecars.
